During that stretch, Avendano made a pair of starts and was outstanding as he went 11 innings, scattering just five hits while striking out 15 hitters to help drop his ERA to 1.64 on the summer, which is tops in the NWL.
Avendano (5-1, 1.55) began the week with a six-inning effort on August 6th at Gesa Stadium at Pasco, WA, giving up only four hits with 10 strikeouts to lead the Canadians to a 5-1 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils.
Five nights later, the right-hander had a no-decision but gave up just one hit over five innings in another outstanding performance against the Yakima Bears.
This is the second time that Avendano has won Northwest League Pitcher of the Week honours this season. The right-hander also earned the award on June 25th.
